Google’s bid to acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion is set to gain regulatory approval as soon as next week, multiple reports claim. Google announced that it choose to buy Motorola Mobility because it needed to defend the Android platform against predatory patent companies like Apple and Microsoft. Immediately after the proposed purchase the value of the patents was disputed and many wondered if Google was also interested in starting its own manufacturing of Android Nexus devices. Last week in Germany this argument attenuated as Germany courts banned the sales of iPhones and iPads requiring Apple to begin licensing infringed technology. Google has stated that it intends to license Motorola's patents on fair terms hoping to reduce or eliminate the its competitors practices of suing in court instead of producing innovating products.
